Die2Nite - Day 1

Rock Paper Shotgun's Quinns has done it again. Gotten me hooked on a new browser based game, this one called Die2Nite.
Go ahead and read about the game from the above links first, and to get an idea of what I've let my self in for before continuing here.

All done?

Good. Then we'll begin.

I'm in a little town called "The promenade of Heartache", with not much idea what I'm supposed to be doing. I've followed the in-game instructions and made my first shaky steps into this scary world.

So far, I've:
  • Built a tent (it's a free upgrade from a hole in the ground)
  • Contributed to building a gate lock (so the gates cannot be opened in the middle of the night by unscrupulous types)
  • Scanned the horizon for zombies (giving the town a better picture of the surrounding areas)
  • Withdrew water from the well (for a quick energy drink)
  • Went for a walk into the wilderness
And that's where it went a little bit wrong. Firstly, I thought I'd run out of energy and have to beg for someone to come and help me. But a quick drink fixed me right up. Secondly, I kept wandering into depleted areas and having to move on (costing me yet more energy). Thirdly, I wandered into a horde of zombies. I was outnumbered 6 to 1 and had to flee for my life. During my daring escape, I sustained a head wound and as a result, have one less maximum energy. Ouch. Not sure how to fix myself up.

Oh and I also found another doggy-bag and some scrap metal that appears useless.

The town forums are quite useful. They help organize the town and plan things. Cooperation is absolutely key for survival. Selfish people are potentially very detrimental. So much so that an order has been given in our town that if you were to build a hovel (extra protection for yourself incase the zombies get in), a vote is cast for banishment. Not sure if that's particularly harsh or not but I'm going with the masses at the moment until I get my feet.
